Job summary

Javelin Global Commodities is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join its London-based technology team and help shape systems at the heart of a fast-moving global commodities business.

The role sits at the intersection of commodities trading and technology, offering hands-on work with traders, analysts and engineers. You will build and enhance practical software supporting trading, logistics, accounting, financing and operations, with a focus on Python development and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
3 - 5 years of hands‑on software engineering experience, with at least 2 years embedded with users delivering production applications in financial services, commodities or comparable enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test and deploy software that supports commodities trading, risk management and market-data processing, working closely with traders and operators to turn business needs into effective solutions.
Write clean, scalable and maintainable code, primarily in Python 3.
Partner with traders and quantitative analysts to understand strategies, identify opportunities and translate requirements into robust software.
Enhance the reliability, performance and usability of applications across trading and operational workflows.
Own well-defined development tasks from concept to delivery, communicating progress clearly and producing dependable solutions on time.
Contribute ideas through technical design discussions and code reviews, and help strengthen our testing and software-development practices.
