Job summary

Cboe Europe is seeking a Python Software Engineer to design and build reliable, testable Python systems supporting trading operations in London. The role collaborates with business, BD and sales teams to deliver new features and products in a fast-paced exchange environment.

You will work with Django, FastAPI and modern data tools; expect complex queries, robust testing regimes, and involvement in R&D projects across Europe and the US.

Qualifications

• Solid Python knowledge.
• A commitment to writing testable, maintainable code.
• Knowledge of SQL and the ability to compose complex queries.
• Basic Linux knowledge.
• Solid knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Highly preferred: Testing methodologies (TDD/BDD).
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
• Familiarity with web frameworks such as Django, Flask or FastAPI.
• Familiarity with event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka.
• Familiarity with data pipeline platforms such as Apache Airflow.
• Familiarity with Java is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with our business development and sales teams to develop innovative new products and features for our exchanges.
• Design and build highly reliable, highly testable Python systems to support our trading operations.
• Contribute to complex projects including analyzing requirements and implementing new features.
• Collaborate closely with other developers in Europe and the United States.
• Participate in various R&D projects to identify and implement promising new technologies.
• Debug complicated engineering and operational problems.
• Provide operational support for our trading systems by participating in a production support rota, responding to incidents in line with our Incident Management and Response processes, and contributing to post-mortem analyses and follow-up actions.
