Job summary

CBS Butler seeks an experienced Application DevOps Engineer to join its London engineering team. You will own Python automation, production stability and continuous improvement within a high-volume financial tech environment.

In this hybrid role, you’ll collaborate across application, infra and development teams to improve reliability, scalability and operational performance of critical platforms, driving resilience and efficient deployments.

Qualifications

Strong Python development skills for automation and tooling.
Experience in DevOps, Production Engineering or SRE.
Experience supporting high-availability applications.
Good understanding of CI/CD, deployment, monitoring and SDLC.
Knowledge of distributed systems, resilience and capacity management.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across applications and infrastructure.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
Proactive ownership and problem-solving attitude.

Responsibilities

Develop Python-based automation and tooling to improve operational efficiency.
Support and enhance critical production applications and services.
Drive improvements across resilience, availability, performance and capacity.
Manage deployments, releases, production readiness and failover activities.
Implement monitoring, alerting and observability solutions; investigate complex issues.
Identify root causes and deliver sustainable technical solutions.
Contribute to CI/CD, automation and wider DevOps and engineering best practices.
