Job description

Join Capgemini's Financial Services Business Unit within the Cloud & Custom Applications (C&CA) practice as a Python Developer, helping clients turn complex requirements into secure, scalable and future-ready solutions. You'll design and deliver high-quality backend services while contributing to AI-enabled applications that create meaningful business outcomes. Working collaboratively across engineering, product, design and data teams, you'll combine strong software engineering with an AI-fluent mindset to solve problems with purpose, continuously evolve our capabilities and help architect tomorrow. This is an opportunity to make a real impact while sharing knowledge and contributing to a future-ready engineering community.

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, test and maintain secure, scalable backend services and APIs that meet business and user needs.
  • Deliver production-quality software through strong engineering, testing, review and documentation practices.
  • Integrate applications with internal services, data sources and external APIs while ensuring security, resilience and effective error management.
  • Build and support AI-enabled capabilities, applying generative AI patterns appropriately to real-world use cases.
  • Apply effective evaluation, monitoring, guardrails and human oversight to help ensure AI solutions are reliable, secure and responsibly delivered.
  • Diagnose and resolve defects, performance challenges and operational incidents, using evidence to continuously improve reliability.
  • Collaborate with product, design, data and engineering colleagues to translate requirements into practical, maintainable solutions.
  • Contribute to technical design and estimation, taking ownership of agreed outcomes and delivering to quality expectations.
  • Continuously evolve engineering, AI and security knowledge, sharing insights and helping build an AI-fluent, future-ready engineering community.
Must-Have Skills:
  • Strong hands-on Python development experience, including backend applications, services and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Python development frameworks, automated testing, dependency/package management and asynchronous programming where relevant.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including clean code, object-oriented and/or functional design, testing, debugging, API design and source control.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, efficient querying and data modelling.
  • Practical experience building or integrating generative AI solutions using LLM APIs and orchestration approaches.
  • Understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector stores, prompt design, agent workflows, model evaluation and AI safety/guardrails.
  • Experience delivering cloud-hosted applications, containerised workloads and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Awareness of secure development practices, including secrets management, access control, data protection and dependency security.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, including working through ambiguous technical challenges.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to technical and non-technical audiences.
Good-to-Have Skills
  • Experience with FastAPI, Flask or Django and pytest.
  • Experience building full-stack applications or working closely with frontend engineers on API contracts and end-to-end user journeys.
  • Familiarity with application logging, monitoring and distributed tracing approaches and tooling.
  • Experience working in regulated, enterprise-scale or security-conscious environments.
