Brio Digital Limited is seeking a Python/Django Software Engineer for a UK central government programme. This remote role includes occasional London visits, a daily rate of £500 outside IR35, and a 3-month initial contract. You will build and maintain web apps and APIs on AWS in an agile team.

You should have strong Python/Django experience, AWS, RESTful APIs, PostgreSQL, CI/CD, and testing. Central government context is advantageous; SC clearance is required.

• Strong Python and Django experience.

• Experience building RESTful APIs.
• Relational database knowledge with PostgreSQL.

Python/Django Software Engineer

Location: Remote, with 1 to 2 days a month in London

Rate: £500/day Outside IR35

Duration: 3 months initial

Overview

We're looking for a Python/Django Software Engineer to join a central government programme. You'll build and improve digital services on AWS, working in a multidisciplinary team to deliver reliable, secure and user-focused software.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain web applications and APIs in Python and Django
• Develop and deploy services on AWS
• Write clean, well-tested and maintainable code
• Take part in code reviews and help raise engineering standards
• Work with product, design and delivery colleagues in an Agile team
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
• Troubleshoot and fix issues across development and live environments

Key Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with Python and Django
• Hands-on AWS experience covering services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3 or ECS
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD
• Comfortable working in Agile delivery teams

Desirable

• Previous central government or public sector experience
• Knowledge of the GDS Service Standard and (url removed) Design System
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation
• Docker and containerised deployments
