Job summary

TSG UK seeks a Design Engineer to support the technical development of solar PV and BESS projects in the UK. You will produce detailed electrical designs, assess feasibility and contribute to technical reports and tender submissions.

The role involves collaborating with commercial, project management and delivery teams to ensure buildable, compliant and cost-effective designs, with a flexible hybrid working pattern in Birmingham.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems and/or BESS design principles.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed PV and BESS designs, including layouts and equipment specifications.
• Support feasibility studies, site assessments, and early-stage evaluations for new opportunities.
• Develop yield assessments, system performance models, and technical reports.
• Collaborate with commercial, project management, and delivery teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
• Provide technical input into tender submissions and client proposals.
• Review and validate third‑party designs to ensure compliance with TSG standards and industry best practice.
• Ensure all designs meet relevant UK standards, grid requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Liaise with DNOs and other stakeholders as required.
• Identify risks, constraints, and opportunities during the design phase and propose solutions.
• Support project handover from pre-construction to delivery teams, ensuring technical clarity and continuity.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of solar and BESS technologies, standards, and market developments.
