The role works closely with senior stakeholders across the business and with the Generac key sourcing team.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience managing a purchasing or materials team in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing supplier relationships at a senior level
  • Strong, professional negotiator with a track record of cost reductions and commercial agreements (pricing, payment terms, rebates)
  • Sound understanding of MRP/ERP principles and how they drive purchasing and material planning
  • Experience in inventory management and stock control, including stock takes, consignment stock and obsolete/redundant stock
  • Knowledge of supplier quality requirements, onboarding and vendor rating
  • Experience delivering against departmental KPIs and reporting to senior management

  • Desirable: Epicor ERP and/or SourceDay experience, purchasing within electronics manufacturing, experience of electronic component allocation and lead-time management, and working within a multinational group sourcing structure
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Purchasing and Materials team, monitoring workloads weekly and making sure departmental goals are met in line with key objectives
  • Hold regular 121s and twice-weekly team meetings, setting clear objectives and resolving challenges constructively
  • Support the team with component availability challenges, working with individuals and suppliers to keep production flowing
  • Manage supplier relationships at a senior level and develop strategies with buyers and key suppliers in line with company goals
  • Negotiate prices, lead times, trading terms and annual rebate agreements that add value to the DSE supply chain and achieve PEP cost-saving goals
  • Assist buyers in sourcing new products and suppliers and reducing component costs on an ongoing basis
  • Hold regular business reviews and audits with suppliers where necessary
  • Make sure manual and MRP purchase orders are placed in a timely manner so components arrive on time
  • Manage day-to-day shortages, identify components that are a risk to the business and put solutions in place to reduce that risk
