Job summary

Portfolio Procurement has been engaged by a leading South Yorkshire based client to recruit for a Purchasing Manager. You will be responsible for managing both the current and future needs the Purchasing department and will coach and support the team.

The role also involves negotiating all purchasing contracts, developing a global supply base, selecting new suppliers, and re-tendering commodities. Additionally, you will align all material management processes and collaborate with suppliers

Qualifications

• Senior purchasing experience, including working with steel, fabrication, and machined commodities.
• Experience in managing a team.
• Willingness and ability to travel globally as required.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

• Manage, support, and coach the Purchasing team.
• Negotiate all current and new purchasing contracts.

• Select new suppliers based on cost, suitability and supply competence.

• Previous Purchasing experience at a senior level to include a solid understanding of Steel, Fabrications and Machined commodities
• Previous experience in managing a team
• Ability to travel globally should the need arise
• An understanding of lean manufacturing
