Job summary

MTrec Ltd is recruiting a Procurement Manager to lead a purchasing team within a manufacturing environment. You will drive supplier performance, negotiate key contracts and develop strategies to improve cost, quality and delivery across direct and indirect materials.

• Strong commercial awareness and supplier management skills.
• Experience leading and developing a purchasing team.
• Ability to align purchasing strategy with production and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead Purchasing team and wider purchasing activities.
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business needs.
• Manage procurement of direct and indirect materials.
• Source, negotiate and manage suppliers on cost, quality, delivery and service.
• Drive supplier cost reduction, value engineering and continuous improvement.
• Manage supplier performance, audits and development.
• Collaborate with Planning to ensure material availability and production continuity.
• Support inventory optimisation and working capital improvement.
• Report on purchasing performance and cost saving initiatives.

The Company

Our client is a market leading manufacturing company. Due to growth, they are now looking to recruit a Procurement Manager.

The Role

• This is a key role, working closely with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering and Quality, with responsibility for supplier performance, cost reduction, material availability and supporting the overall competitiveness and profitability of the business.
• Leading and managing the Purchasing team and wider purchasing activities.
• Developing and implementing purchasing strategies aligned with business and customer requirements.
• Managing procurement of direct and indirect materials.
• Sourcing, negotiating and managing suppliers across cost, quality, delivery and service.
• Driving supplier cost reduction, value engineering and continuous improvement.
• Managing supplier performance, audits and development.
• Working closely with Planning to ensure material availability and production continuity.
• Supporting inventory optimisation and working capital improvement.
• Reporting on purchasing performance, supplier metrics and cost saving initiatives.

The Person

• Must have experience in a similar role within manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of supply chain and customer driven manufacturing.
• Experience managing direct material commodities and supplier negotiation.
• Proven track record of delivering cost savings and operational improvement.
• Strong commercial awareness and supplier management experience.
• Experience managing supply continuity within a manufacturing environment.
• MCIPS qualified or working towards qualification, desirable.
• Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• A results driven approach with the ability to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
