Job summary

Mulberry in Somerset, England, is seeking an organized Purchasing Assistant on a fixed-term maternity cover to support UK factories. You will generate purchase orders, track deliveries, reconcile receipts, and collaborate with Production Planning, Costing and Finance to ensure material availability and accurate data.

Responsibilities

  • Generate and issue purchase orders for UK production materials.
  • Expedite orders and communicate delays to the UK production and sourcing teams.
  • Ensure weekly dates are kept up to date in the system.
  • Reconcile goods received with GRNs and assist with invoice queries.
  • Collaborate with production planning to manage material availability and reduce delays.
  • Support costing with up-to-date UK BOMs and reporting requirements.
  • Review production consumables stock weekly to meet forward requirements.

We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join our Sourcing team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain or administration who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Supporting our UK factories, you will play a key role in ensuring raw materials and production consumables are ordered, tracked and delivered on time, helping to maintain efficient production operations.

Working closely with suppliers and internal teams across Production Planning, Costing and Finance, you will help ensure accurate purchasing data, timely material availability and excellent administrative support across the Purchasing function.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Generating and issuing purchase orders for UK production raw materials.
  • Expediting orders, communicating any delays to the UK production and sourcing team
  • Ensure weekly changing dates are kept up to date on the system
  • Ensuring all goods received are reconciled with GRNs and supporting with any invoice queries.
  • Work closely with production planning team to manage and limit any material delays
  • Working closely with the costing team on ensuring UK BOMs are all up to date and accurate, as well as providing support on any reporting requirements
  • Weekly review of production consumables stock – ensuring factory forward requirements are covered in line with supplier lead time.
  • Assisting in managing the raw material stock take twice yearly

Skills & Knowledge:
  • Experience in a purchasing environment
  • A proficient level using all Microsoft office programs, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace, prioritise work and organise themselves well in a varied role to ensure deadlines are met.
