Job summary

Time Recruitment Solutions Ltd in Wilmslow is seeking a Purchase Ledger Supervisor to lead the purchase ledger function and ensure supplier invoices are processed accurately and on time.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will supervise a small team, manage weekly and monthly payment runs and support month-end processes and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day purchase ledger operations.
• Supervise and develop Purchase Ledger Assistants.
• Ensure invoices are processed and authorised.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries.
• Manage weekly and monthly payment runs.
• Monitor invoice approvals and deadlines.
• Investigate invoice discrepancies and supplier disputes.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Support month-end, accruals and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with policies and controls.
• Identify process improvements in accounts payable.
• Support audits and provide information.

Purchase Ledger Supervisor

Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire

Salary: £35,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Purchase Ledger Supervisor to join a growing finance team based in Wilmslow. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will take ownership of the purchase ledger function, ensuring supplier payments are processed accurately and on time while leading and supporting a small team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a purchase ledger professional looking to step into a supervisory role or an existing supervisor seeking a new challenge within a dynamic and supportive business.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day running of the purchase ledger function.
• Supervise, support and develop Purchase Ledger Assistants.
• Ensure all supplier invoices are accurately processed and authorised.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve queries promptly.
• Manage weekly and monthly payment runs.
• Monitor invoice approval workflows and ensure deadlines are met.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and supplier disputes.
• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with month-end processes, accruals and reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls.
• Identify and implement process improvements within the accounts payable function.
• Support audits and provide information as required.

Requirements

Essential

• Previous experience within a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable position.
• Experience supervising or mentoring team members.
• Strong knowledge of invoice processing, reconciliations and payment runs.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
• Ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

• AAT qualification or studying towards an accounting qualification.
• Experience using ERP systems such as Sage, Dynamics, SAP or NetSuite.
• Experience within a multi-site or high-volume invoice environment.
