Job summary

Pertemps Black Country Perms is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager based in the West Midlands. You will lead the AP team, ensure accurate invoicing, and manage the purchase ledger across the business.

Strong leadership and hands-on expertise with VAT, reconciliations and intercompany activity are essential. Responsibilities include delivering timely payment runs, supporting month-end processes, and driving automation improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a busy accounts payable/purchase ledger team.
• Qualified with AAT Level 4 or equivalent, with ACCA/CIMA partial beneficial.
• Strong understanding of accruals, prepayments, VAT and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Accounts Payable team and allocate workload.
• Ensure invoices are processed in the correct period and paid on time.
• Control coding, documentation, and supplier reconciliations.
• Manage the purchase ledger and resolve discrepancies.
• Review nominal ledger for errors and missing costs.
• Prepare accruals, prepayments, control accounts and reconciliations.
• Oversee intercompany transactions and balance sheet accuracy.
• Produce payment runs and maintain financial controls.
• Support month-end reporting and cost analysis.
• Drive process improvements in automation and reporting.
• Maintain VAT compliance and audit-ready records.
• Coach and develop AP team members.
