Job description

Job Title: Purchase Ledger Clerk

Reports to: Office Manager

Depot: Support Centre, Manchester

Role Overview

The Purchase Ledger Clerk will be responsible for all accounts payable duties, including generating, coding, and checking invoices, working out statements, and handling purchase enquiries. The role also involves working closely with accounts receivable for enquiries, statements, invoice copies, and administration.

Main Duties
  1. Processing invoices, both stock and overheads.
  2. Monthly reconciliation of supplier statements.
  3. Processing business expenses for employees.
  4. Managing petty cash.
  5. Dealing with supplier queries via email and telephone.
  6. Handling daily banking and supplier payments.
  7. Performing other ad hoc duties as assigned by the Purchase Ledger Manager.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Strong administration skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Confident communicator at all levels of management.
  • Proactive attitude with genuine care for the business and suppliers.
  • Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger role.
  • Proficiency in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team working skills.
  • Ability to meet monthly deadlines.
