Job summary

Fife Council is seeking a committed Pupil Support Assistant to help children and young people achieve their full potential. You will assist under supervision of a class teacher to support learners with additional needs and contribute to planning updates.

First aid training will be undertaken to support the school’s provision. You will work with pupils individually or in groups, supervise medication and provide personal care as trained, and implement programmes from visiting specialists.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal abilities to work in a team and support children and young people.
• Experience supporting young people with additional support needs.
• PVG scheme membership and registration with PVG scheme.
• Ability to register with SSSC and complete required training.
• SCQF Level 4+ or equivalent requirements for early learning/primary contexts.
• Good IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils individually or in small groups in learning and personal development.
• Contribute information to update planning and review for individual pupils.
• Supervise self-administration of medication and provide personal care as trained.
• Carry out supported programmes designed by specialists (speech therapy, physiotherapy, etc.).
• Support pupil mobility for short-term needs and emergencies.
