Job summary

Newman School is seeking a compassionate, highly organised Safeguarding and Welfare Officer to support pupils' safety and wellbeing. You will coordinate safeguarding activity, respond to welfare concerns and work with families and partner agencies.

You will maintain confidential records, support the Designated Safeguarding Lead, contribute to training, and promote a culture of safeguarding and early intervention across the school.

Qualifications

• Experience in safeguarding, pastoral care, or related setting is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of safeguarding guidance and multi-agency working would be an advantage.
• Good standard of English and mathematics; confidence using digital case-management systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding and welfare concerns and respond promptly to referrals.
• Maintain accurate, confidential safeguarding records and support case management and reporting.
• Provide sensitive support to pupils and families and liaise with social care, health, police and partner agencies.
• Support staff with safeguarding training and contribute to safeguarding briefings.
