Job summary

Springwell School in Southampton is seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to join a warm, inclusive SEN environment. You will lead safeguarding practices, promote positive behaviour, and work with families and external agencies to safeguard pupils aged 4–11.

The role involves contributing to a safe, nurturing school culture, supporting staff with training and managing complex needs in a collaborative setting. A rewarding opportunity to support pupils to thrive.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with SEND children, including complex emotional/behavioural needs within a school.
• Ability to maintain accurate, confidential records and handling sensitive information appropriately.
• Willing to undertake relevant training and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Establish supportive, caring, and secure relationships with pupils.
• Develop knowledge of individual needs and respond effectively.
• Support behaviours in liaison with senior leaders.
• Support behaviour regulation and engagement with individuals and groups.
• Be a trained Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and respond to safeguarding concerns.
