Job summary

TfL, GLA or OPDC is looking for a highly experienced Pumps and Drainage engineer to support London’s transport network. You will work across the asset lifecycle from planning to operation, protecting critical assets and driving resilience against extreme weather and climate change.

The role involves taking ownership of asset risk management activities, developing STRATA risk assessments, and applying professional engineering judgment to low-risk projects within TfL assets.

Qualifications

• Membership in ICE or working towards membership is desirable.
• Knowledge of Pumps and Drainage legislation, standards and best practices – Essential.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental considerations for Pumps and Drainage – Essential.
• Knowledge of design, construction, operation, maintenance and assessment of Pumps and Drainage – Desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety, functionality or compliance of assets, engineering processes, procedures or systems.
• Leads the development and implementation of low complexity engineering solutions within their discipline or functional specialism.
• Provides internal stakeholders with challenge and professional advice to ensure quality, tested engineering solutions.
• Undertakes on-site risk-based monitoring and surveillance of works, resolving and escalating risks and issues as appropriate.
• Maintains working knowledge of applicable standards, design codes and legislation applicable to their discipline.
• Evaluates, selects and applies appropriate solutions to low risk/value/complexity engineering problems that improve efficiency while reducing costs.
• Makes technical recommendations for own discipline or functional specialism to customers or senior management.
• Supports continuous improvement through best practice, innovation and whole life cost optimization.
