TfL, GLA or OPDC is looking for a highly experienced Pumps and Drainage engineer to support London’s transport network. You will work across the asset lifecycle from planning to operation, protecting critical assets and driving resilience against extreme weather and climate change.
The role involves taking ownership of asset risk management activities, developing STRATA risk assessments, and applying professional engineering judgment to low-risk projects within TfL assets.

Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.
Please note that this role may occasionally require night shift working. On average, you should expect to work approximately one night shift per month; however, the frequency may vary depending on operational and business requirements.
Play a vital role in keeping London moving by providing specialist Pumps and Drainage engineering expertise that supports TfL’s operations, strategic objectives, major projects, and asset management programmes. Working across the full asset lifecycle, you will influence everything from planning and design through to construction, maintenance, and operational performance, helping to deliver safe, reliable, and resilient infrastructure for millions of customers.
You will be at the forefront of protecting and enhancing critical Pumps and Drainage assets, ensuring their safety, integrity, and efficiency while addressing the challenges of an evolving transport network. This includes contributing to initiatives that strengthen resilience against extreme weather events and the impacts of climate change, helping to safeguard the network for the future.
The role also offers the opportunity to take ownership of asset risk management activities, maintaining and developing STRATA risk assessments for London Underground Pumps and Drainage assets, as well as equivalent risk management frameworks across other TfL assets. Through your technical expertise and proactive approach, you will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, informed decision-making, and long-term asset sustainability.
