Job description

Pulmonary Rehab Clinician / Clinical Exercise Physiologist

An exciting opportunity for a Pulmonary Rehabilitation / Respiratory Clinician (Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, or Nurse) or Clinical Exercise Physiologist has arisen in the Norfolk and Waveney (East Coast Great Yarmouth and Waveney) area. This is a full-time fixed-term post for one year. The key purpose of this role is to deliver an NHS-commissioned pulmonary rehabilitation service. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Team Lead / Clinical Specialist and alongside support worker colleagues in an innovative, proactive team.

Applicants should ideally have experience in Pulmonary Rehabilitation, whether as a student or post-graduate, although training will be provided. The role involves providing pulmonary rehab, including exercise and education in group or virtual settings, pre- and post-assessment of patients, and supporting patient self-management. The post holder will also promote, develop, and evaluate the service using evidence-based practices, audits, and outcome measures, and contribute to other team services such as home oxygen assessment (HOSAR) and quality improvement projects.

  1. Perform all clinical duties autonomously, with advice and support from senior clinicians as needed.
  2. Be professionally responsible and accountable for patient management and support peers and staff accordingly.
  3. Manage own caseload flexibly.
  4. Manage patient pathways from referral to discharge in community settings.
  5. Provide comprehensive assessments and interventions for patients with respiratory conditions.
  6. Deliver pulmonary rehabilitation classes, including exercise and education programs.
  7. Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions to ensure coordinated care.

  • Contribute to planning, delivery, and evaluation of services.

  • Supervise students and support staff as appropriate.

Policy and Service Development:

  • Implement quality improvements and clinical governance standards.

Human Resources Responsibilities:

  • Support staff and student development and performance management.

Research and Development:

  • Monitor and evaluate pulmonary rehab programs using outcome measures.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, or MSc in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
  • Registration with HCPC, NMC, or AHCS.
  • Relevant CPD in Respiratory Care/Pulmonary Rehab.
Experience
  • Clinical experience with respiratory patients.
  • Experience in respiratory rotations, community settings, and delivering pulmonary rehab classes.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and treatment skills.
  • IT proficiency, organizational skills, and ability to work in a team.
Personal Attributes

  • Willingness to travel across community sites.
