Job summary

Oxford Health in Oxfordshire is seeking a Band 3 Pulmonary Rehabilitation Assistant to support clinicians in delivering pulmonary rehab programmes in community settings, predominantly in gyms. You will help run group sessions, assist with exercise, and provide patient education under supervision.

The role requires a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle, and a flexible, team-oriented approach. The post covers countywide services across Oxfordshire, with standard hours 08:30 to 16:30,

Qualifications

• Experience in a public-facing role.
• Basic IT skills.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.
• Desirable: experience in rehabilitation or exercise settings.

Responsibilities

• Support qualified clinicians to prepare and run rehabilitation groups for patients with long-term breathlessness.
• Provide planned advice, teaching and instruction to patients and carers and other professionals.
• Work within treatment or care programmes with patients.
• Assist in delivering pulmonary rehabilitation exercise programmes under supervision.
• Prepare and set up equipment for exercise classes and patient assessments.
• Perform administrative tasks to ensure smooth running of groups.
• Monitor patients during exercise sessions and record observations.
• Escalate concerns regarding patient health to the supervising clinician and support adherence to programmes.
• Support patients in performing prescribed exercises safely and effectively.
• Assist with education sessions on breathlessness management, inhaler technique, energy conservation and healthy lifestyles.
• Support collection of outcome measures including walking tests and questionnaires.
• Maintain infection prevention and control standards in all clinical environments.
