Job summary

The Town of Acton is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Person to perform mechanical, electrical, and manual work related to the maintenance and repair of Town vehicles and equipment. This benefitted union position supports Public Works operations by ensuring that vehicles, heavy and light equipment, and machinery are safe, functional, and ready for use, including during emergency and weather-related events.

Qualifications

Valid driver's license; CDL Class B with airbrake to be obtained within 2 years.
High School diploma or GED; 1 year public works or related experience.
Ability to supply basic mechanic tools.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair Town vehicles and equipment, including engines and hydraulics.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs; test-drive vehicles.
Keep accurate repair records and assist with equipment spec recommendations.
Respond to emergency road calls; participate in 24/7 emergency operations and snow removal.
Operate equipment safely and maintain a clean, safe work environment; assist with winter maintenance.
