Job description

The post holder will coordinate the operational activities involved in the provision and development of transport services and infrastructure, information, and the customer proposition across our bus network.

  1. Responsible for the coordination and administration of day-to-day bus contracts and operations, including Chester Park and Ride and our iTravel on Demand Responsive Transport service.
  2. Prepare local bus tenders and ensure a cost-effective and cohesive network across the borough that meets the needs of residents.
  3. Contribute to the success of our Bus Enhanced Partnership by gathering insights from various sources to enhance network performance and future local bus design in the borough.
An Exciting Opportunity in Our Strategic Transport Team

Cheshire West and Chester Council seeks an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our Strategic Transport and Infrastructure team.

This role will shape the future of transport across the borough, working to deliver our ambitious Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) and recent funding allocations. It will support our emerging Local Transport Plan, the Borough Plan, and our commitments to climate and poverty reduction.

You will collaborate with our Enhanced Partnership, stakeholders, and operators to develop sustainable travel networks that address social deprivation and isolation, improve connectivity to employment and education, and unlock opportunities for all.

This is an opportunity to gain broad experience in policy development, local bus, and rail projects, and to be at the forefront of driving change in sustainable transport.

If you have a successful track record in delivering local bus projects, excel at building strong stakeholder relationships, and are passionate about the impact of sustainable transport, we would love to hear from you!

In return, you will support the Council’s vision for healthier, inclusive, and thriving communities, contribute to climate action, and benefit from 26 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 31 days after five years of service. Flexible working arrangements and a range of wellbeing and development benefits are available.

This is a permanent role. We welcome applicants with diverse experiences who believe they can add value to the team.
