Job summary

Sheffield City Council is seeking a skilled UX/UI designer to join our Digital Services team. You will translate user research into practical designs for our websites, intranet, and online services, ensuring accessibility and a consistent user experience.

Working with researchers, content designers and developers, you will create wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs using Figma, applying WCAG guidelines and design systems to deliver mobile-first, responsive interfaces.

Qualifications

Experience in UX/UI design on digital services across end-to-end user journeys.
Experience planning and delivering user-centred design activities based on evidence and business needs.
Experience creating concepts, flows, wireframes and prototypes for digital services.
Ability to analyse user research and analytics to inform design decisions.
Ability to present concepts to stakeholders in a clear way.
Experience using Figma for design delivery.
Experience applying design systems and pattern libraries.

Responsibilities

Design user-centred digital experiences that meet user needs and ensure accessibility.
Use user research, analytics and stakeholder feedback to improve journeys and interfaces.
Develop concepts, user flows, wireframes and prototypes into implementation-ready designs.
Design responsive interfaces with a mobile-first approach for multiple devices.
Ensure designs meet WCAG accessibility requirements.
Apply design systems and reusable patterns consistently.
Collaborate with developers to ensure design delivery aligns with intent.
Lead UX/UI improvement projects across digital services.
Contribute to ongoing design system development and patterns.
