Job summary

Talent in the UK is seeking an experienced Interaction Designer to join an agile, multidisciplinary team. You will translate complex policy and user journeys into intuitive digital and assisted-digital experiences that align with Government Design Principles and GDS standards.

The role offers a hybrid work model with 3 on-site days per week in Manchester, Leeds, or Newcastle, and a daily rate of £375 (Inside IR35) for an initial 6-month contract.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering user-centred interaction design within agile, multidisciplinary product teams.
• Hands-on proficiency with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch) and rapid prototyping workflows.
• Strong commitment to accessibility and inclusive design for assisted-digital users.
• Ability to articulate design decisions clearly and influence non-design stakeholders with evidence-based rationale.

Responsibilities

• Prototyping and Iteration: design, build, and iterate rapid interactive prototypes (from sketch to coded prototypes using the GOV.UK Prototype Kit).
• Service Architecture and Flow: map end-to-end user journeys, task models, wireframes, and interfaces across digital and non-digital touchpoints.
• User-Centred Design: work with User Researchers to observe usability testing and synthesize findings.
• Design Systems and Accessibility: implement and contribute to GOV.UK Design System; ensure WCAG 2.2 AA compliance.
• Facilitation and Alignment: lead co-design workshops and cross-functional design sessions.
