Job summary

Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council is seeking an Employment & Litigation Solicitor/Barrister to join the Legal and Democratic Services Team. The role covers contentious and non-contentious employment matters with a broad caseload, including representation at tribunals and courts.

You will provide high-quality, pragmatic legal advice, draft documentation, and support workforce change and policy development.

Qualifications

Qualified Solicitor with current Practising Certificate, or Barrister registered at the Bar.
Experience in employment law, litigation and legal advocacy.
Excellent drafting, negotiation and presentation skills.
Able to analyse complex issues and provide solution-focused advice.
Organised with ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

Provide expert legal advice on employment law matters including disciplinary and grievance issues, policies and procedures, workforce change and employment disputes.
Represent the Council in Employment Tribunals, County Courts, hearings, inquiries, negotiations and ADR processes.
Manage a busy and diverse caseload of employment and litigation matters.
Draft pleadings, witness statements, legal agreements, reports and other legal documentation.
Research legislation, case law and developments to provide accurate advice.
Build strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.
