Job summary

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Commercial and Projects Legal Officer to support the Legal Team in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and other commercial documentation. You will conduct legal research, prepare reports and briefing notes on procurement and contractual matters, and may attend client meetings and project boards.

The role requires a capable team player with keen attention to detail, able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs of the Council.

Qualifications

Knowledge of law in Commercial and Projects portfolios.
Ability to communicate in writing for diverse audiences and records of meeting discussions.
Experience interacting with colleagues and clients on legal matters.
Experience in legal work in commercial or procurement areas.

Responsibilities

Support the Legal Team with preparation, drafting, review and negotiation of contracts and commercial docs.
Undertake legal research and prepare reports, briefing notes and advice on procurement and contractual matters.
Attend client meetings and project boards as required.
Learn and develop in related disciplines within the service.
