Job summary

Ofcom is recruiting a Senior Associate to lead government and parliamentary engagement within the Public Policy team. You will own engagement strategies across a defined portfolio and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to shape policy decisions.

The role requires strong policy analysis, excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to lead cross‑functional projects while supporting junior colleagues. Travel to London may be required.

Qualifications

• Essential experience and knowledge of government and parliamentary engagement.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, confident taking initiative and driving work independently.
• Demonstrable ability to master a broad and complex policy brief.
• Experience of supporting more junior colleagues, and contributing to a positive and inclusive working environment.
• Forming Relationships: Proven ability to gain respect and trust of senior colleagues and stakeholders; ability to manage upwards/sideways.
• Harmonising Work: Working effectively with others, sharing information and identifying shared priorities with external stakeholders.
• Scanning Horizons: Identifying opportunities and risks and guiding delivery of Ofcom priorities.

• Desirable experience and knowledge of broadcast and media.

Responsibilities

• Own Ofcom’s strategy for government and parliamentary engagement across your portfolio.
• Build and maintain productive relationships internally and externally, ensuring engagement is joined up.
• Engage directly with government officials in this role.
• Keep the organisation informed of external developments and provide expert policy context for decision-making.
• Maintain oversight of the work programme and manage risks in your areas.
