Job summary

Public Health Wales is seeking a Research and Evaluation Fellow to develop and shape a robust programme of evaluation of complex public health interventions. You will lead across the full evaluation lifecycle with mixed methods expertise and a track record in evaluation.

You will join a supportive, multidisciplinary team within a Directorate focused on evidence, data and data science in public health; hybrid working with Cardiff presence 1–2 days monthly is expected.

Qualifications

• Educated to degree level with strong research/evaluation component.
• Postgraduate diploma or Masters in health/public health research.
• Knowledge of core Public Health competencies at masters level, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of quantitative methods for research and evaluation.
• Knowledge of methods to develop, implement, and analyse complex interventions.
• Understanding NHS research, ethics, data governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead evaluation of complex public health programmes and interventions.
• Use qualitative methods to explore implementation, context, and stakeholder experiences.
• Apply quantitative methods such as large-scale surveys and data analysis.
• Translate evidence into actionable insights and communicate to diverse audiences.
• Ability to navigate complexity and influence policy and practice.
