Job summary

Derby City Council is offering a Public Health Practitioner Apprentice (Level 6) 3-year fixed term apprenticeship. You will train while working in Public Health and Neighbourhoods teams, progressing to a Public Health BSc at Coventry University with one study day per week.

Successful candidates start early January 2027 and gain hands-on experience supporting health improvement, health protection and community engagement within Derby City.

Qualifications

• Must have GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above.
• At least a Level 3 qualification or two years public health experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Public Health and Neighbourhoods teams.
• Gain experience in public health functions including prevention, health protection and health improvement.
• Support planning, delivery, monitoring, evaluation, communication and engagement for public health services and projects.
• Meet learning objectives required for the apprenticeship over three years.
