Job summary

A leading international telecommunications company seeks a Public Cloud Technical Authority to design and maintain cloud blueprints, assess new technologies, and ensure adherence to security best practices. Role title: Public Cloud Technical Authority
Function: Vodafone Cloud & Infrastructure (VCI)
Band: G12
Department: Public Cloud Services (PCS)
Reports to: Principal Public Cloud Manager
Location: UK - Newbury or Paddington

Role purpose:

The role focuses on designing and maintaining public cloud blueprints to deliver standardised reusable patterns. It involves assessing new technologies and influencing the internal product development roadmap to introduce new services for AWS and GCP. The role includes consulting on security and connectivity best practices, supporting internal forums, and ensuring adherence to best practice principles.

What you’ll do
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
  1. Design, develop, and maintain cloud architecture blueprints, patterns, and templates.
  2. Promote and champion the use of reusable code/modules and API capabilities to drive automation.
  3. Provide technical design, guidance, and consultancy to support transformation of existing on-premises services to public cloud.
  4. Drive adoption and implement best practices for cloud connectivity and security standards.
  5. Ensure resiliency best practices are applied to all architectural solutions and designs.
Who you are
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
  1. Proven experience assessing customer workloads and the technology landscape for cloud transformation.
  2. Proven knowledge of AWS and GCP platforms and tools.
  3. Familiarity with DevSecOps concepts and security compliance requirements.
  4. Experience deploying infrastructure using CI/CD pipelines and IaC with tools like HashiCorp Stack (Terraform, Packer), Jenkins, and Docker.
  5. Knowledge of serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda and Google Cloud Functions.
  6. Experience designing scalable cloud solutions leveraging latest capabilities.
  7. Ability to translate business requirements into technology solutions.
  8. Experience working in global organizations focused on large programs.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
  1. Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  2. Certification in AWS or GCP architecture.
  3. Strong knowledge of Jira/Confluence, Git, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Swarm, Microservice architecture, Python, Ansible.
