Job summary

Studio Vertigo in Gateshead, UK, is seeking an experienced designer-maker to develop ambitious public artworks and installations. You will move from concept and CAD development through prototyping, fabrication and final installation, with hands-on work in the workshop and on-site build alongside the team.

The role requires about four to five years of relevant experience, confidence with CAD drawings, practical knowledge of materials and fabrication, and the willingness to travel across the UK

Qualifications

• Around four to five years of relevant professional experience.
• Ability to produce clear CAD drawings.
• Practical understanding of materials, fabrication and assembly.
• Willingness to travel and stay away when projects require it.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Develop creative concepts into practical, buildable CAD drawings.
• Prototype, test and refine designs.
• Work hands-on with the fabrication team to build and assemble projects.
• Design with fabrication, transport, installation, maintenance and touring in mind.
• Prepare work for transport and take part in installations and dismantles across the UK and occasionally overseas.
• Help improve how our projects are designed, made and delivered.
