Job summary

Thatchers Hotel in Guildford is seeking a reliable Public Area Cleaner to maintain cleanliness and presentation of guest-facing and communal areas across the hotel.

You will vacuum, polish, stock washrooms, report maintenance issues, and work with colleagues to uphold high hotel standards. The role requires a friendly, guest-focused attitude and reliability, with flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays. On-site parking and progression within Flying Trade Group are available.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning or housekeeping is beneficial but not essential.
• Good attention to detail and pride in high standards.
• Organised and able to manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Clean reception areas, lobbies, lounges, corridors, and meeting rooms.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, polish and sanitise designated areas.
• Maintain clean washrooms and ensure supplies are stocked.
• Empty waste bins and manage rubbish according to hotel procedures.
• Report maintenance issues and safety concerns promptly.

Are you passionate about creating clean, welcoming environments and delivering exceptional guest experiences? We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Public Area Cleaner to join our hotel team at Thatchers Hotel, Guildford.

Thatchers Hotel is a charming Tudor-style property set in the heart of the Surrey countryside. Featuring 87 guest rooms, two meeting and function rooms, and a newly refurbished bar and restaurant.

As a Public Area Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, presentation, and hygiene of all guest-facing and communal areas across the hotel. Your work will help create a positive first impression and ensure high standards are maintained at all times.

What you will be doing as our Public Area Cleaner:

• Cleaning and maintaining reception areas, lobbies, lounges, corridors, stairways, public toilets, and meeting rooms.
• Vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, and sanitising designated areas.
• Ensuring washrooms are clean, stocked, and presentable throughout the day.
• Emptying waste bins and disposing of rubbish in line with hotel procedures.
• Replenishing cleaning supplies, toiletries, and consumables.
• Reporting maintenance issues and health and safety concerns promptly.
• Using and storing cleaning equipment safely and correctly.
• Supporting deep cleaning projects when required.
• Responding professionally to guest requests.
• Working closely with colleagues across departments to maintain exceptional hotel standards.

What we are looking for as our Public Area Cleaner:

• Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Friendly, professional, and guest-focused attitude.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work various shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
• Knowledge of COSHH and cleaning chemicals is advantageous.
• Commitment to providing a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for guests and colleagues.
