Job Description:

Prospero Teaching is seeking a confident and ambitious Psychology Graduate for a Teaching Assistant position in Altrincham, starting in February 2025. The role involves supporting secondary students (ages 11-16) who are experiencing difficulties in school, including those with SEMH needs, PTSD, or ADHD. The successful candidate should have some experience supporting children or young people with such needs.

Location: Altrincham
Position: Graduate Teaching Assistant
Type of Work: General Teaching Assistant work with small groups of children with SEMH needs
Start Date: February 2025
End Date: July 2025
Duration: Temporary
Full Time: Yes
Minimum Rate: £100 per day
Hours: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting children with SEN (Special Educational Needs)
• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs
• Creating an environment where pupils can reach their full potential
• Building rapport with children, supporting their social and behavioural needs, and acting as a mentor

Role requirements include:

• Psychology (BA Hons) degree
• Enhanced DBS (clean, relevant, and on the update service)
• Safeguarding certificate, prevent awareness, FGM (essential)
• Behaviour management training (desirable)
• Enthusiastic attitude, genuine passion for education
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships

Previous experience working with young people and good knowledge of SEMH/behavioural difficulties are preferred.
