Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a psychology graduate to join a primary school in the BS9 area of Bristol as a 1-1 Teaching Assistant. You will provide dedicated support to a pupil with additional needs and help them access classroom learning.

The role offers hands-on experience in an educational setting, with opportunities to work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, and to contribute to safeguarding and child development.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN in a school setting.
• Calm, patient and reassuring approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Reliability, professionalism and safeguarding commitment.
• Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS via Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Providing dedicated 1-1 support to a pupil with additional needs.
• Supporting the child to access classroom learning and stay engaged with activities.
• Helping with transitions, daily routines and tasks throughout the school day.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
• Supporting social skills, communication and emotional regulation.
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress.
• Creating a calm, structured and nurturing environment for the child.
