Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a Psychology graduate to join a Gateshead primary school as a Learning Support Assistant from September. You will support pupils with learning, behaviour and emotional wellbeing in one-to-one and small group settings, across the primary age range.

This role suits graduates exploring Educational Psychology or related fields, offering opportunity to gain practical experience and to work with a supportive team in a local school. DBS checks are required.

Qualifications

• Psychology degree or related qualification.
• Genuine interest in working with children.
• Patient and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication skills.
• Resilience and enthusiasm.
• DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis.
• Help children overcome academic, behavioural and emotional barriers to learning.
• Support pupils with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and other needs.
• Encourage positive social interaction and communication.
• Support children with emotional regulation and confidence-building.
• Observe pupils and communicate changes in behaviour.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Help create a structured, predictable and positive learning environment.
