Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a Psychology graduate to join a supportive primary school in Gateshead as a Learning Support Assistant. You will work alongside teachers and SENCOs to support pupils with Autism, ADHD and SEMH, delivering targeted interventions and helping regulate emotions.

This role provides first-hand experience in child development and safeguarding, with ongoing CPD and potential for permanent positions.

Qualifications

• Holds a Psychology degree (or related discipline).
• Demonstrates a genuine passion for supporting children.
• Is calm, compassionate and resilient.
• Wants to build experience before further study or teacher training.
• Can build positive relationships with children and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Support children with Autism, ADHD and SEMH needs.
• Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to improve confidence and engagement.
• Help children regulate emotions and develop social skills.
• Promote positive behaviour throughout the school day.
• Assist teachers in creating an inclusive learning environment.
• Observe and monitor pupil progress.
• Contribute to a safe, nurturing and supportive school community.
