Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd in Gateshead is seeking a compassionate Psychology graduate to join a local primary school as a Learning Support Assistant from September. You will support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, working with children with a range of needs and assisting teachers with inclusive lessons.

The role offers valuable hands-on experience in education and psychology, with opportunities for long-term progression and ongoing safeguarding training.

Qualifications

• A degree in Psychology (or a related subject).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Experience working with children is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils one-to-one and in small groups.
• Work with children with additional needs (ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH).
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships.
• Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
• Observe behaviour, learning and emotional development.
• Encourage positive behaviour using nurturing strategies.
• Build meaningful relationships with pupils, teachers and families.
