Job summary

Arden University in Manchester is seeking an Assistant Lecturer in Psychology to deliver teaching, supervise dissertations and provide academic support under a Senior Lecturer. You will act as a Named Personal Academic Coach and create high-quality digital teaching material meeting learning objectives.

You will undertake formative and summative marking with high-quality feedback, reflect on practice, and contribute to quality assurance activities. 37 hours/week, on campus 4 days.

Qualifications

• A BSc degree or higher in Psychology with Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
• Excellent breadth and depth of core BPS curriculum, including qualitative research methods, and common subjects, such as forensic, counselling, clinical, cyberpsychology.
• The ability to effectively communicate material of a specialist or technical nature relevant to Psychology.
• The ability to contribute to programme enhancement.
• Confidence in using common digital platforms.
• Some experience in teaching or providing academic support.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent teaching, learning, dissertation supervision and academic support to our students.
• Act as a Named Personal Academic Coach: Manage a defined caseload of students, acting as their primary academic point of contact.
• Create high-quality digital teaching material ensuring that content and methods of delivery meet defined learning objectives.
• Undertake timely formative and summative assessment marking and provide high-quality feedback.
• Reflect on your teaching and learning practice and development of skills, with support/guidance as needed.
• Undertake administrative and quality assurance activities to support teaching and learning activities, such as marking standardisation and teaching observations.
• Actively contribute to School level activity, such as participation in wider citizenship roles such a reviewing ethics applications and supporting research methods workshops.
