Job summary

Arden University is seeking a Lecturer in Psychology to join our Newcastle Campus. The role focuses on delivering high-quality teaching and supervision of dissertations, with opportunities to lead modules and develop digital materials.

You will support student success as a Personal Academic Coach, undertake marking and assessment design, and contribute to curriculum development within the Department of Psychology (BL).

Qualifications

• MSc or equivalent in Psychology with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) as recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
• Excellent data analysis and evaluation skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in teaching, learning, assessment, dissertation supervision, and pastoral care practices in Higher Education.
• A track record of contributing to programme teams and being an inspiring lecturer.
• AdvanceHE Recognition - FHEA or willing to achieve within 12-18 months.
• Experience related to BPS curriculum and research topics such as forensic, cyberpsychology, counselling, clinical, etc.

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking a Lecturer in Psychology to join our Newcastle Campus.

You will:

• Deliver excellent teaching, learning opportunities and dissertation supervision.
• Lead and develop modules, ensuring high-quality learning materials and curriculum development.
• Design excellent digital teaching material ensuring that content and methods of delivery meet defined learning objectives.
• Undertake assessment marking, design authentic assessments, and provide high-quality feedback.
• Support student success as a named Personal Academic Coach (PAC) to a defined caseload of students, building proactive relationships and providing personalised academic coaching that promotes engagement, progression, achievement and successful completion.
• Manage your own teaching and student success activities and reflect on practice and development of skills, with support/guidance as needed.
• Undertake administrative activities to support teaching and learning activities.
• Participation in or leadership of projects or activities relevant to the aims of the School at the discretion of the Head of Department / Head of School (for example, reviewing ethics applications).

About You

To be successful as a Lecturer in Psychology you will need:

• An MSc or equivalent qualification in Psychology, with eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) as recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
• Excellent data analysis and evaluation skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Experience in teaching, learning, assessment, dissertation supervision, and pastoral care practices in Higher Education.
• A track record of successfully contributing to programme teams and being an inspiring and creative lecturer.
• AdvanceHE Recognition - FHEA or willing to achieve within 12-18 months.
• We encourage applications from those with experience in teaching across the required BPS curriculum and with research specialisms in common psychology topics, such as forensic, cyberpsychology, counselling, clinical, and so on.

Highly Desirable Criteria:

• A PhD (or close to completion) in Psychology or a closely related subject.
• Expertise in, or a willingness to develop, high quality, pro-active academic student support practices within higher education.
• Expertise in, or a willingness to engage in, appropriate applied AI practices.
