Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove is seeking a part-time Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to support and enhance psychological care within a multidisciplinary team. The role involves assessments, therapy for individuals and groups, and collaboration on care plans and audits.

Applicants should be HCPC registered and experience in clinical/forensic settings is preferred; newly qualified applicants are welcome. Enhanced DBS check will be required.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered Clinical or Forensic Psychologist with experience in clinical forensic/mental health settings.
• Newly qualified applicants welcome to apply.
• Preferably trained in Schema-focused, Cognitive Analytical and DBT therapies.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a MDT as a Team Psychologist.
• Carry out psychological assessments and provide therapy to individuals and groups.
• Collaboratively develop care plans with the MDT.
• Provide training and supervision to colleagues, and consultation to teams.
• Evaluate the service, contribute to its development and carry out clinical research.
• Disseminate outcomes via conferences and publications.

You will be joining our team on a part time, 24hrs per week basis across 3 days.

Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove:

Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove is our hospital for women in Staffordshire. There are two wards at the hospital; a 20 bed Acute service for women and an 11 bed Highly Specialised Personality Disorder Rehabilitation service.

Crocus Ward provides a safe and stabilising environment for women who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission. Burleigh Ward provides specialised support for women with a personality disorder and other complex needs.

Job Summary

To support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within this service; providing psychological assessment and interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed your supervisor. To conduct audits, collection of statistics, and development of audit and research projects, teaching and project work.

Your Day-to-Day…

• Work as a team Psychologist within a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
• Carry out psychological assessments & provide therapy to individuals & groups
• Collaboratively develop care plans with the MDT
• Provide training & supervision to colleagues, & consultation to teams
• Evaluate the service, contribute to its development & carry out clinical research
• Disseminate outcomes via conference presentations and publications.

We are looking for someone who is…

• A HCPC registered Clinical or Forensic Psychologist with experience in a clinical forensic or mental health setting
• Newly qualified and applicants due to qualify within 6 months are welcome to apply
• Preferably trained in complex therapies such as Schema focused, Cognitive Analytical and DBT
• Passionate about working with people with a range of complex mental health needs
• Capable of treating difficulties such as self-harm, physical & verbal aggression, history of sexual offending and drug & alcohol problems.
