Job summary

Arriva Group is seeking an experienced PSV Mechanic in the United Kingdom to service, diagnose, and repair PSV vehicles within a busy workshop environment. The role offers a full-time, 5-on/2-off shift rota, plus opportunities to work with electric buses as Arriva expands its sustainable fleet.

You will perform MOT preparation, safety inspections, and road-side support while developing your skills with modern diagnostic equipment and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Proven PSV/HGV mechanic experience or equivalent
• Level 3 Vehicle/Heavy Vehicle Maintenance qualification
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
• Full UK driving license (PCV/HGV desirable)
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintenance and repair of PSV vehicles
• Mechanical and electrical fault finding and diagnostics
• MOT preparation and preventative maintenance inspections
• Vehicle safety inspections and quality control checks
• Roadside breakdown response and reactive repairs
• Using modern diagnostic equipment and workshop technology
• Collaborate within an engineering team
• 5 days out of 7 shift pattern including weekends

PSV Mechanic

£26.35 per hour
Full-time | 5 out of 7 shift rota (mornings, afternoons & late shifts)

What You’ll Be Doing

• Servicing, maintenance, and repair of PSV vehicles
• Mechanical and electrical fault finding and diagnostics
• MOT preparation and preventative maintenance inspections
• Vehicle safety inspections and quality control checks
• Roadside breakdown response and reactive repairs
• Using modern diagnostic equipment and workshop technology
• Working collaboratively within a skilled engineering team
• Shift work including earlies, lates, and weekends (5 days out of 7)
  

What We’re Looking For

Proven experience as a PSV/HGV mechanic or engineer (automotive, heavy vehicle, or rail considered)

Level 3 qualification in Vehicle or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)

Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Full UK driving license (PCV/HGV desirable, but not essential)

Electrical systems knowledge (desirable but not essential)

Flexibility to work a rotating shift pattern, including evenings and weekends
