Job summary

Arriva is seeking a PSV/HGV Engineer (Mechanical and Electrical) in Bangor to maintain and repair a diverse fleet. You’ll carry out diagnostics, electrical inspections, and routine maintenance to keep buses safe and reliable.

The role requires strong hands-on electrical skills, experience with wiring diagrams, and a valid UK driving licence. You'll work in a collaborative depot environment, learning new electrical technologies including hybrid and electric systems, with overtime and on-call

Qualifications

• A recognised qualification or apprenticeship in Vehicle Electrical / Mechanical or Electronic Systems (or equivalent).
• Hands-on electrical experience with PSV, HGV or Light Vehicle fleets.
• Strong diagnostic capability and ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Full UK driving licence; Cat D (PCV) desirable or willingness to obtain through in-house training.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults on PSV, HGV and Light Goods Vehicles.
• Perform routine electrical inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Install, repair and replace electrical components (loom wiring, alternators, starters, batteries, lighting, climate control, infotainment).
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues.
• Ensure repairs follow manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.
• Prepare accurate reports on work carried out and maintain depot records.
• Collaborate with other engineers in a team at the depot.
• Stay updated on new electrical technologies including hybrid/electric systems.
