Job summary

Stagecoach is seeking a Bus Service Engineer/Technician to join the Saint Helens depot team. You’ll service and repair buses, diagnose faults with modern tools, and perform roadside repairs to keep the fleet safe and on the move.

Working to Stagecoach and DVSA standards, you’ll collaborate with colleagues, report defects, and help maintain high reliability. The role offers a pay of £54,000 per year, full training, a generous pension, 25 days’ holiday, and travel benefits for you and a companion.

Qualifications

• Qualified engineer with City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in PSV or HGV Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Previous hands-on experience servicing and repairing commercial vehicles, ideally in bus/coach/HGV environments.
• Confident using diagnostic tools and service manuals.
• Safety‑first approach and good teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and servicing buses to Stagecoach and DVSA safety standards.
• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using modern diagnostic tools.
• Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance, including roadside repairs.
• Reporting defects and completing all work safely and in line with policies.
• Collaborating with workshop colleagues and supporting junior team members.
