Job summary

Caledonian Automotive Recruitment is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager or Depot Manager to lead a team of engineers and technicians in London, driving operational excellence in vehicle maintenance, reliability, and TfL London Bus compliance.

You will manage the workshop safely and cost-effectively, develop staff, oversee planned maintenance, and use data/tech to optimise fleet performance. The role requires a strong engineering background with 2–3 years in similar leadership positions.

Qualifications

• Leads engineering/Depot teams across a workshop.
• Requires strong leadership and people management.
• Requires knowledge of vehicle maintenance processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage workshop in a cost-effective, safe manner.
• Lead and develop the engineering team to high performance.
• Oversee planned maintenance scheduling.
• Use data/tech to optimise fleet performance and reduce downtime.
• Record and rectify defects reported by staff.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Minimise lost mileage by delivering reliable vehicles.
• Interview candidates for new openings in the workshop.
• Carry out disciplinaries as needed.
