Job summary

Major UK Passenger Transport Operator in East London is hiring a Deputy Engineering Manager to support the Engineering Manager in running the workshop and supervising the team. The role focuses on maintaining a modern fleet to legal and company standards, ensuring high availability and reliability.

The successful candidate will lead workshop staff, manage performance, and plan workloads to meet operational requirements.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering and maintenance for large vehicles.
• Experience in engineering supervision or workshop management.
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and regulatory standards.
• Up-to-date Health and Safety knowledge and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day management of the engineering workshop.
• Ensure vehicles meet legal, regulatory and company standards.
• Maximise vehicle availability, reliability and workshop productivity.
• Lead, motivate and support workshop staff.
• Manage performance, attendance, fatigue and wellbeing.
• Oversee scheduled maintenance, inspections and repairs on time.
• Monitor quality, compliance records and workshop standards.
• Promote a positive Health and Safety culture.
• Plan workloads to meet operational needs.
• Deputise for the Engineering Manager when required.
