Transportukbus, Hayes Depot, seeks a PSV Chargehand on 12‑hour shifts (four on, four off) to lead bus maintenance and repairs. You will ensure quality and safety, diagnose faults, and coordinate with the engineering team to meet targets. A strong NVQ2 PSV/HGV background and hybrid qualifications are essential, with IRTEC/SMT certifications preferred.

PCV licence welcome but training may be provided. Permanent role with good benefits; reporting to Fleet Manager, located at Hayes Depot.

Formación

• NVQ Level 2 – maintenance and repair of PSV/HGV required.
• Current recognised qualifications in hybrid awareness and hybrid fault diagnostics.
• IRTEC and SMT qualifications required or obtainable during probation.

Responsabilidades

Description

Reporting to the Service Manager with the day to day responsibilities for repairing and maintaining the fleet of buses in accordance with the Company's policies and standards, by ensuring that work is delegated to the team as appropriate and their outputs are monitored, in order to deliver a consistently reliable, safe, high quality work output and results, in line with specified targets, contractual obligations and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspecting, repairing and maintaining our buses.
• Checking the quality of our repairs.
• Investigating and diagnosing any mechanical and electronic faults.
• Recording those faults, and the work we've done to fix them, using a tablet
• Making decisions about road calls.
• Liaising with iBus and the engineering team to avoid lost mileage.
• Delegate work to the team as appropriate and monitor outputs.
• Following safety instructions and reporting any issues.
• Regularly updating the Service Manager on progress, and helping with planning.
• Potentially taking on a few Service Manager responsibilities when they're away.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Work 12hr shifts with four days on and four days off.
• Have at least an NVQ level 2 qualification for maintenance and repair of public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles (or an equivalent international qualification).
• Must have current recognised qualifications in hybrid awareness and hybrid fault diagnostics.
• We'll need to see evidence of your IRTEC and SMT qualification from the awarding body. If you don't have an NVQ we'll need you to pass the IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician exam during your six-month probation.
• Oh, and it's not essential, but it'd be great if you also have a PCV licence. Don't worry if you don't as we would also love to teach you to drive our buses.
• Have a good standard of Maths and English.
• Be able to read and understand instructions and service manuals.
• Know how to use fleet management technical computer systems.
• Be good in a team - whether that's working with your direct colleagues or beyond.
• Be able to meet deadlines and work flexibly when we need you to (for instance, we might ask you to work from a different depot or take a different shift).
• Be happy to take any training the service manager asks you to.
• Be able to work well using your own initiative.
• Be safety conscious in everything you do.
