Job summary

Elev8 Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Test & Development Technician to join a small engineering team in Norwich. This permanent, site-based role offers hands-on prototyping, wiring and testing of electromechanical systems up to £38,000.

You’ll work with electronics, software and mechanical engineers to troubleshoot, modify and improve equipment during development, with travel to external test facilities as needed. 37.5 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• This role welcomes hands-on engineers from electronics, manufacturing or related fields.
• It matters that you’re comfortable with equipment and solving problems.
• Experience in prototype development or first-build work is valued.

Responsibilities

• Building and assembling prototype mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment
• Wiring, soldering, cable assembly and electronic rework
• Bringing new systems into test and checking them against the design requirements
• Fault-finding when prototypes don’t behave as expected
• Using multimeters, oscilloscopes and power supplies to diagnose problems
• Modifying, repairing and improving equipment during development
• Carrying out functional, performance and environmental testing
• Working closely with engineers to solve problems
• Feeding back practical improvements around reliability and serviceability
• Helping turn successful prototypes into repeatable production builds
• Producing practical build, test and repair instructions as the equipment develops
