Job summary
SSE is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to join the P&C Team supporting the Southern Distribution Network. You will develop MC&P diagrams, review third-party designs for 11kV–132kV, specify relays and CT/VT, and create AC/DC schematics with protection grading studies.
Travel is regular; base locations include Melksham, Oxford, Reading, Slough or Portsmouth. A Bachelor's degree and UK DN experience are required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
- Proven experience on Distribution Networks from 11kV to 132kV, ideally UK DN.
- Background as a Protection & Control Design Engineer for 11kV/33kV/132kV.
- Experience with protection relays, relay panels, CT & VT sizing, and AC/DC schematics.
Responsibilities
- Develop scoping docs and MC&P diagrams.
- Review P&C designs from third parties for 11kV–132kV networks.
- Specify P&C equipment such as relays, CTs and VTs.
- Produce detailed designs and protection grading studies.
- Review commissioning plans and participate in FAT and on-site commissioning.
