Job summary

Royal London is seeking a Proposition Owner in a hybrid role (Cheshire / Edinburgh / London) to lead the Helping Hand proposition for Adviser & Customers. You will own the vision, set the long‑term roadmap, manage a dynamic backlog and drive delivery through Agile squads or matrix teams, collaborating across Royal London to meet regulatory obligations and customer outcomes.

• Strong knowledge of the UK Protection market.
• Experience defining and delivering a product vision, roadmap, backlog and milestones.
• Experience managing external suppliers and key commercial relationships.
• Experience leading Agile teams or working across Agile and waterfall delivery approaches.
• Confidence gathering requirements, writing user stories and translating complex insight into practical direction.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to balance customer needs, regulation, operational capability, cost and value.
• Delivery-focused mindset with sound judgement and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment and engage with regulators.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision, strategy and roadmap for Royal London’s Helping Hand proposition across the UK market.
• Manage and communicate a prioritised backlog using insights, data and strategy.
• Lead one or more Agile squads or matrix teams with clear direction and planning support.
• Develop compelling customer value propositions for members and advisers.
• Oversee key commercial relationships with external suppliers, including SLAs and contracts.
• Own end-to-end customer journeys, maintain journey maps and manage risk of harm.
• Translate needs into outcomes and user stories for cross-functional delivery teams.
• Collaborate with marketing, UX, strategy, insight, finance, pricing, distribution, legal and risk teams.
• Maintain market awareness through engagement with customers, industry bodies and regulators.
• Ensure FCA requirements are met and support good customer outcomes under Consumer Duty.
• Manage conduct risk, governance, budgets and resources; mentor Proposition Analysts where applicable.

We’re looking for a Proposition Owner to join our Adviser & Customers Team to take end-to-end responsibility for our Helping Hand proposition in Protection. This is an influential proposition leadership role that brings together customer insight, commercial thinking, relationship management and regulatory responsibility.

You’ll set a clear product vision and long-term roadmap, manage a dynamic backlog and lead delivery through an Agile squad or matrix team. Working with colleagues and partners across Royal London, you’ll help create compelling propositions and customer experiences that deliver good outcomes, support our strategic goals and meet our regulatory responsibilities.

About you

You’ll bring strong product or proposition experience, with the ability to turn market, customer and regulatory insight into a clear direction for delivery. You’ll be comfortable balancing long‑term thinking with day‑to‑day priorities, building and maintaining trusted relationships and leading teams through complexity and change.

What you’ll be doing:

• Own the vision, strategy and roadmap for Royal London’s Helping Hand proposition across the UK market
• Manage and communicate a prioritised backlog, using customer insight, data and business strategy to shape decisions
• Lead one or more Agile squads or matrix teams, providing clear direction and supporting effective planning, refinement and review
• Develop clear, compelling customer value propositions for members and advisers
• Oversee the management of key commercial relationships with external suppliers, including SLAs, MI and contract renewals
• Own the end‑to‑end customer journey, keeping journey maps and risks of harm up to date and embedding good experience‑design practice
• Translate business, customer and regulatory needs into clear outcomes and user stories for cross‑functional delivery teamsWork with marketing, user experience, strategy, insight, finance, pricing, distribution, legal, risk and compliance colleagues to deliver joined‑up outcomes
• Maintain strong market awareness through engagement with customers, industry bodies, partners and regulators
• Ensure products meet relevant FCA requirements and support good customer outcomes under Consumer Duty
• Manage conduct risk, governance, controls, dependencies, budgets and resources effectively
• Where applicable, lead and develop Proposition Analysts, including performance, personal development and talent management
