Job summary

Primetals Technologies UK Ltd in Scunthorpe seeks a Proposals & Production Engineer to respond to customer enquiries, create and cost proposals, and liaise with customers through production to delivery. You will work with the Technical Buyer/Estimator, Operations Manager, and workshop team to support manufacturing and procurement workflows.

The role covers price negotiations, purchase orders, supplier follow-up, and involvement in product development to maximise standardisation and value

Qualifications

• Prior experience in fabrication workshop environment.
• Knowledge of EAF and related equipment and parts.
• Commercial knowledge and experience in creating proposals from drawings, BOMs, technical specs and RFQ docs.
• Experience juggling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong spoken and written communication skills.
• Computer literate (SAP, MS Office).
• Awareness of differing international cultures (desirable).
• Flexibility to travel occasionally to customer and other sites.

Responsibilities

• Prepare quotations/proposals using Microsoft Office and SAP, including estimate costing sheets.
• Follow required approval process for each quotation/proposal.
• Monitor and report progress of workshop jobs and site work from sale to delivery.
• Create project plans and liaise with customers about proposals and progress.
• Enter enquiries and customer orders into CRM and systems.
• Provide workshop manufacturing and technical support on day-to-day issues.
• Liaise with suppliers on parts/services and pricing.
• Generate purchase orders and ensure supplier acceptance.
• Support product development to maximise standardisation and high-volume manufacture.
• Report progress and propose resolutions to Operations/General Manager.
